You
don’t have to step far outside the hotel to see some breathtaking scenery.
In fact, on a summer’s day, many of our guests are quite happy to sit
by the beautiful River Leven, watching the local wildlife and seeing if
they can spot the odd salmon jumping. We’re also very close to the home of children’s author Beatrix Potter and the official World of Beatrix Potter Attraction is just a hop, skip and a jump away at Bowness.
Other attractions you might want to explore include: The Lakes is famous for its challenging walks, but Walks Without Stiles provides 39 laid back stunning walks suitable for little legs and buggies Historic Sizergh Castle and Gardens, situated around four miles south of the town of Kendal, is now owned by the National Trust, although a member of the Strickland family, who have been in possesion of the house since 1239, still occupies their ancestral home. The castle is set in 14 acres of award winning lake and gardens. |
Go Racing. Throughout the summer national hunt racing happens on the edge of the picturesque village of Cartmel. Its a great day out for all the family with picnics and fairground rides. River Deep Mountain Highprovides adventurous outdoor activities in the Lake District, for individuals, couples, families and groups. Gorge Walking, Canoeing, Abseiling and more! High quality equipment, hot chocolate and fully qualified instructors.
Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole has an adventure playground packed with rope walks, slides, swings, scramble nets and zip wires. Conquer the wooden fort or mess about on the shipwrecked boat! There's also a lakeshore, jetty and trails around the gardens. Holker Hall is the home of Lord and Lady Cavendish who welcome visitors of all ages to one of the best-loved stately homes in Britain. Magnificently situated only a short distance from Grange-over-Sands and the expanse of Morecambe Bay, Holker Hall is set in exceptionally beautiful countryside with gardens that merge into Parkland framed by the Lakeland Hills. There are many events throughout the year including a famous garden festival. Go Ape is a ‘high-wire forest adventure’.With giant obstacle courses up in the trees using ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels made of wood, rope and super-strong wire, and top it all off with the country’s best zip lines Grange Golf Club is only a short drive from the hotel, they welcome new visitors at this fabulous 18 hole course.
