Marina moorings in the Lake District
Given that our National Park gets its name from the glorious masses of water surrounding it, it is only fitting that you’d wish to spend your days out on the lakes, soaking up the sunshine, and seeing where the wind takes you (literally!).
If it happens to take you towards the Swan Hotel, though, worry not as we have our very own jetty exclusively for visitors to use!

Easy boat access to Lake Windermere
Situated at the tail end of Windemere Lake and at the start of the River Leven, our Lake District Marina is close enough to be in on the action but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Lake.
To access our visitor jetty on the River Leven, there is a navigable channel from Fell Foot that is ideally suited for shallow draft boats, taking you from Windermere to the idyllic, peaceful river. Please keep in mind that the water levels differ depending on the season and tends to be shallower in warmer climes, so boats with retractable keels are recommended.
Our great location means you have plenty of time to stop off for a quick bite to eat, enjoy a tipple on the terrace and even indulge in a treatment or two in our spa. You can pop along for a couple of hours or stay the whole day if you wish, more on that below!
We are also conveniently the closest mooring available to the A590 and M6, perfect for those who love to travel by both land and water. The Lakeside-Haverthwaite railway route also stops off at Newby Bridge Halt, just a two-minute walk away from the Hotel, ideal for those wanting to take a different mode of transport and explore the local attractions locomotive style!
Sail away or stay all day
Visitors are more than welcome to moor up on our jetty for up to 2 hours free of charge, subject to availability, giving you time to stretch your legs and enjoy some good grub in our pub or a drink on our fabulous riverside terrace.
Or, if you want to swan around the Hotel for a little while longer, you can moor up all day for just £30 a day – whatever floats your boat! With an abundance of things to do in the Lake District, visiting us by boat will allow you to not only see the sights but stop off and enjoy them too.
