Just a short 4-minute drive (or 40 minute walk) from our hotel, you’ll find the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway where you can jump back in time and experience the uniqueness of riding on a steam train. At Haverthwaite Railway station, you can grab a bite to eat at the platform café or the let the kids play in the woodland playground.
Dogs are also more than welcome at the Haverthwaite Railway. They can travel for free on the trains and are also allowed in the café.

The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway runs right past our hotel, with the starting point of Haverthwaite station just a five-minute drive from the hotel. Here you can soak up the atmosphere of this Lakeside station before hopping into a comfortable carriage for a leisurely journey.
The voyage takes you via the beautiful lake that is the River Leven Valley, right to the most southern end of Windermere. You can also buy a combined ticket, which includes a cruise across Lake Windermere. And the best bit? There’s a great tea room at the end of the line (take our word for it!).
