Wild Swimming Club
This year we’d like to invite you to join us at The Swan Hotel as we launch another year of our Wild Swimming Club!
Join us for a unique opportunity to dip your toes into the scenic River Leven and experience the thrill and benefits of this refreshing activity. Splashing into action from May through to August 2025, you’ll have the opportunity to meet our guide, Karen, and enjoy a wild swim.
We’ll also be hosting two free taster sessions on Sunday 4th May so you can try before you buy your tickets! Book onto our free morning or evening sessions now.

Please note, in order to book onto one of the dates below you will need to select the preferred date from the calendar and the class will then appear. All classes will run from 6-7pm, but we recommend you arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for changing.

About Karen
Hey, I’m Karen, a lover of all things outdoors.
First a mum, then a grandma, then a wife and coach. I discovered my love of open water and adventure over 12 years ago when I had major surgery on my back. Wellbeing and self-improvement became my medicine, and I am fortunate to be able to do this now for a job with my business Qswim Adventure, training swimmers to achieve their goals, from an icy dip to the length of the English Channel.
I swim all year round and have swum most meres and waters in the Lake District from end to end, including the length of Windermere several times. I have swum the English Channel and many Lochs as part of small relay teams and recently completed the UltraSwim 33.3km in Montenegro. My longest swim has been Jersey to France (16 miles), and this year I am training to swim the length of Lake Zurich and cross the Baltic Sea in Poland. I am also a triathlete and ultra runner, and will give anything a go!
I absolutely love empowering individuals to enjoy water and all the magic it can bring, in a safe environment.
I am looking forward to meeting you all!

- Facilities: Access to our Health Club changing rooms, and our beautiful river location. Plus, post-dip access to our Health Club facilities such as our pool, sauna and jacuzzi*!
- Price: £20 per person, per session
*Please note, this is access to our Health Club only, not The Holte Spa Thermal Garden.

The Do’s…
Acclimatise gradually. Enter the water slowly trying to stay relaxed. Allow your breathing to regulate before setting off.
Wear earplugs which prevent cold water entering your ear canal causing dizziness / nausea.
Have lots of layers ready for when you get out in the order you will be putting them back on.
The Don’t….
Don’t dip or swim if you are feeling unwell or have been drinking lots of alcohol the night before or are suffering from any respiratory illness.
Don’t forget your inhaler if you have asthma.
